I'm a Portland native, husband, and father of three. Over the last several years I've worked across product, design, creative direction, brand, customer research, and strategy—most recently leading Product & Design at Vooks.
One thing I've learned is that the most interesting problems rarely fit neatly into a single discipline. Product decisions affect marketing. Brand shapes trust. Customer research influences strategy. Design impacts behavior. The farther I've progressed in my career, the more interested I've become in how all the pieces of a business work together with purpose.
Much of my work has focused on children and families, which has only deepened my conviction that the products and experiences we create matter. They shape how people learn, connect, imagine, and grow. That's a responsibility I take seriously, and one of the reasons I care so deeply about the impact of design.
A few principles that guide my work
Excellence is an Act of Service
I've long believed that excellence is a form of service. Whether it's a product experience, a piece of design, or a story, the quality of what we create directly impacts the people we create it for. Details matter because people matter. If our hard work doesn't ultimately benefit others in some way, then does it really have much value?
Creativity is Human
I believe creativity isn't reserved for artists or designers … it's part of being human. Some of my favorite work happens when curiosity, experimentation, and play lead to something unexpected. Making things helps us better understand both ourselves and the world around us. To me, there's nothing more human than the act of creating something.
The Future We Shape Matters
The products and experiences we create influence how people think, learn, connect, and grow. This is especially true for children. I believe we have a responsibility not only to protect people from harmful experiences, but to actively create things that encourage imagination, curiosity, character, and connection.
