About The Project
Storyteller gives children, parents, grandparents, teachers, and loved ones the ability to narrate Vooks stories in their own voice. Those recordings replace the standard narration, creating a more personal and meaningful reading experience.
The feature opens up countless moments of connection—from grandparents reading across the country to parents recording stories while away from home, to children experimenting with narration and building confidence through storytelling.
My role was helping shape how Storyteller looked, felt, and communicated this emotional experience across product and brand touchpoints.
Design Considerations
Familiar, yet special
The feature needed to feel unmistakably Vooks while giving Storyteller its own identity and emotional warmth. The goal was to create something that felt like a natural extension of the platform while still feeling memorable and distinct.
Keeping things bright (and on brand)
Related to the above, one of the themes throughout the project was protecting the visual personality of Vooks. From the feature branding to the promotional video, I pushed for a brighter, warmer, and more optimistic visual tone that reflected the playful and approachable nature of the broader brand.
Cohesion across touchpoints
Storyteller spanned product, marketing, illustration, and video. One of my primary goals was ensuring these pieces felt cohesive—creating a feature identity that was recognizable and consistent wherever families encountered it.



Making The Most With Limited Resources
Vooks is a lean team that has always needed to make thoughtful use of its resources. During the Storyteller promotional video shoot, I worked with our creative partners to bring in photographers while actors, sets, and locations were already in place. By building photography into the existing production, we created a rich library of lifestyle assets that continued to support Storyteller and broader marketing efforts long after the video was complete.
